Italian Machine Vision Forum: innovation and advanced technology.

Softsystem at the Italian Machine Vision Forum

Our team of Artificial Vision was invited to participate in the second edition of the Italian Machine Vision Forum in Padua, organized by Messe Frankfurt and ANIE Automazione. This event, centered on machine vision, was also an excellent opportunity to interact and discuss with suppliers and competitors in the sector.

The Computer Vision Market in the World

Since there is no specific data for machine vision, the robot market is used as a reference.

In Italy it has had an exponential growth (of approximately 65%), managing to compete even with the best automation industries in Europe and the world. 50% of global growth is located in China.

Main Innovations Illustrated at the Italian Machine Vision Forum

Development of optical technologies

Of particular interest were the optics capable of inspecting internal and external surfaces, both on the sides of the object and on the upper and lower surfaces.

  • Pinhole optics can inspect the bottom of a cylindrical object, including its lateral surface. They are useful for detecting impurities inside containers (e.g., glass containers).
  • The multi-mirror lenses can be integrated with telecentric lenses and are useful for measurement and defect control applications (cap and needle processing applications in the pharmaceutical field).

laser scanner technology for 3D reconstructions

3D vision

A new system has been presented that allows the use of laser scanner technology (Area Scan) for 3D reconstructions Using structured patterns. It allows for the analysis of objects at high speeds, allowing for in-motion inspections and assembly. These systems lose some resolution, but they increase the speed of acquisition and subsequent processing, limiting the blurring caused by motion.

Hyperspectral Analysis

One of the novelties presented at theItalian Machine Vision Forum It was the Hyperspectral Analysis.

Multispectral analysis cameras use an image analysis principle similar to spectrometers.

These are systems that analyse, beyond the visible range, by exploiting information relating to absorption and

to the reflection of infrared and ultraviolet rays. Based on the received response (image), it is possible to characterize the composition of a target.
